Lovely how we celebrate the birthday of our dear Queen.
The SE was very strong and gusty. James and I went to Catho and made a nice flight to Blacksmiths. We did thermal flying, rode concergences and ran dunes at high speed. The eagles were nice to fly with. When we were done, we lpacked up at the blacksmiths SLC. Photos at http://pics.nhgc.asn.au/thumbnails.php?album=214
The radar has been on the scent since early and keeps the mind alert hoping for a change that may or may not come. Chances feel little better than a toss of the coin but those odds are a gift for autumn. Desperation and desire are directly related, and despite any agreement between the weather forecast and trustworthy indicators from this high point on Adamstown Heights those tell-tails are scanned often and intently. It’s that time of the year when hope for just a couple of degrees back from the south west is no longer enough and we endure an increasingly familiar stretch without airtime.
G'day,
There's been quite a bit of chat/discussion/discourse about the changes to airspace, and the requirements to carry and use VHF airband radio, that were introduced on June 3.
As I see it, its as Billo put in another post, for us in a nutshell, if you're planning on being inside 10NM (19km) of Maitland and/or Dochra (Singleton), you'll need an appropriate radio with all the permissions and trimmings. So treat it the same as what was an MBZ.
I am planning an adventure to the east coast of victoria, to fly places like cape liptrap. There is some reliable flying after each cold front comes, they bring good SW winds. There are lots of SW sites.
I wil camp and wander to where it is "on". There is lots of stuff to do, bushwalking, great surfing and one of the local windsurfing spots holds the world speed record for sailing.
It will be cold. Bring woolies.
The annual Portland Flyin is on again. 12, 13, 14 June. At Portland Vic. It is an interesting coastal bay that has coast facing in most directions.
A socialble bunch of pilots will be there. Coffee and cake eating is garanteed. some flying may occur as well. Take a floater. a lot of the flying is dunes and doing top landings on the taller sites.
Take woolies. It is cold down there.
Contact Dynosoarers.
Ian and I have been out to dudley for a lovely late afternoon flight. Stinging it.

It was good..... I did lots of landings, took some photos, explored. In the end the wind switched SW and I could not climb out from the bottom again, I beach landed.
Catho is a very big little site, it was at its best today, attended by Mick, (from 8 am), Alby, Jamie, Garry, Bill, Garry, Wendy, Cammo, Les, Shane, Rick, Glenn, Ebbs and myself.
It was a welcome back flight for Glenn after a long time away from flying. Flight number 2 today, he looked relaxed.
A nice run from Catho, through Caves beach, Swanse heads, Wybung and return.
Some pictures show what it was like.
Rick followed me to the north, he said that there were times he was looking at landing on the rocks.
