New weather map from the bom

How good is the new interactive weather map from the bom. It's got wind speed and direction, rain, thermal activity, blah blah blah, and predictions up to a week!
Check it out:

Wow, nice find Stuie, I

Wow, nice find Stuie, I assume that "Geopotential Height" has something to do with thermal activity? Anyone know how to read this new tool?

Allan?

yes it is a new pretty map.

yes it is a new pretty map. BoM have been updating their presenations and will have a few more well presented graphics comining on line over the next few months. Although it looks nice it doesn't really tell us anything new that we don't already get. Just gives that visual data so you can more quickly see what is going on rather than have to read lots of words. Still nice though.

A man with imagination has wings: he can fly.

Geopotential_height

It's a "gravity adjusted height" which apparently makes calculation relating to the weather easier to manage.

This is one of the ones I use comparing it to Seabreeze then picking the one that says I am going flying. :)
