Newcastle Hang Gliding Club

As is customary, we'll be handing out awards at the AGM. This year's Awards will be:

• Most Improved
• Encouragement
• Bent Aluminium
• Best Inland
• Club Champion

So far, we have the following nominations:

• Most Improved

  • Ebbs for flying consistently and making goal at Forbes, Dalby and Manilla in the same year.
  • Dawson (JOD via email)
  • Rob Larkin for flying his Sting 2 from Gulgong to the Breeza plains

• Encouragement

  • Vic for his unbridled enthusiasm.
  • Mick White for being keen as mustard over the past year, showing up ready but often driving because condions were beyond his level, Flying and doing well at Manilla (Borah to Manilla) always ready to lend a hand.
  • Gary Peterson for turning up heaps and launching heaps.
  • Rod for coming back to the sport and showing us what its like to catch the bug twice.

• Bent Aluminium

  • Adam Parer for testing his glider, harness and chute to beyond their limits.
  • Allan McMillan for taking his Sting3 for a surf in an attempt to become Airborne's number 1 Sting consumer.
  • JOD for using his bones to protect his aluminium from breaking at Tumut.
  • Simon Plint for proving that an ankle splint can be re-used.

• Best Inland

  • Scott Barrett for his flight from Yarrawa International to near Rylstone and back again.
  • Rob Larkin for his flight from Gulgong to Breeza Plains in a Sting 2.
  • Alby for his Golden Highway flight from Yarrawa to Dunnedoo and for then completing the golden highway quinella by flying from Brokenback to Yarrawa.

• Club Champion

  • Rick Duncan for beating Jonny at his own comp in his own backyard.
  • Simon Plint for 6? years of devoted service to the club by filling the club's hardest role, that of secretary, and still having the enthusiasm and commitment to come out flying locally and in comps whenever he gets the chance (and always with a well-stocked esky), as well as being scorer at comps as well as helping run the club website as well as being an all round good bloke.
