Got a log book? .....Tick.
Ever look back through it and recall particular flights that stand out? .....Tick.
It would be nice to share a few of these flights with the world.
All those lessons, all that history, all those embarrassments - way too precious to keep locked up in a dusty old log book.
How about sharing your stand-outs? Your sins, victories, lessons and whump-ins. It shouldn’t be too hard and your mates will respect you for caring so little about your public image. Come on, fess up. Surely you have a flight where you learned a valuable lesson or blew your head off with adrenalin or landed vowing never to do THAT again.
As mentioned before there will be gains for your sacrifice – a chance to pocket enough money to buy a new wing… and a hill to fly it off.* Of course you have to be lucky, but you wouldn’t be flying if you weren’t feeling lucky. Right?
To get things started we’re giving the first entry a lottery ticket. Good, bad, short or epic, the first story in wins a ticket. Easy! Just write your story then pick a hill and stand back.
(Actually you’ll want to e-mail it to or paste it into the STORIES section of the forum.)
After the first one we’ll make sure that a ticket goes out each month to a worthy or lucky confessor. Pretty soon club members should have won enough money to own the all of our launch and landing sites. And how good would that be? Hmmm, let me think.
So OK now the vague details...
1. Write up a story of a flight that you think has something special. It could have a take home message, an embarrassing revelation or historical significance. It could have happened last week or last century. Include the names of the guilty and don’t pull any punches
2. If possible, add some photos
3. Come to the meeting. (the Hang Gliding Club not A.A. That’s Tuesdays)
4. If you do get lucky, share the winnings (or at least buy a landing paddock).
Good luck and good luck.
