The Newcastle Hang Gliding Club takes a keen interest in supporting hang gliding competition. Competition is an important tool to help pilots develop their flying skills, gain confidence and thereby enhance their safety.
Along with running our club competition, we also organise a number of other important competitions on the Australian Competition scene.
We try to run one round of our club competition each month, usually on the Saturday after our monthly club meeting. If the weather doesn't co-operate in giving us conditions to run a round in which the majority of our pilots would be able to safely fly a task, we will usually roll the round over to either the next day, or the following weekend.
The Club Champion, and other awards are presented with their trophy at our AGM each July. If you're keen to join in our club comp, join the club and keep an eye on this website for posts each month indicating whether we think we can run a round or not.
NSW State Titles Mt Borah and Manilla have become by-words within the Australian pilot's Lexicon for awesome flying. What better place could there be for the guns of Australia to duel it out for the prestigious title of NSW State Champion? So popular is this comp that the best pilots from around the country regularly compete.
Only a NSW HGFA pilot can be crowned state champ, but anyone from around the world can enter to win the comp.
