The Newcastle Hang Gliding Club Competition is on! Please read the Comp Manual and sign up. Membership is open to all financial members of the Newcastle Hang Gliding Club. To sign up please:
  1. Log in to the website (If you're not subscribed to the website, please create a new account)
  2. complete the Comp Entry form in the Menu at the top of the web page ( move your mouse to the Comp menu that annoying red arrow is pointing at, then click on "Enter the 2011-12 Club Comp"
  3. Fill in the form, and choose a payment method. You can either pay immediately by Pay-Pal, or you can pay by Direct Deposit or by posting a cheque. If you pay by direct deposit or cheque, then your entry will be confirmed once the payment is confirmed.
  4. For more info come along to the next club meeting.
  5. Turn up to as many rounds of the comp as you can, where you'll be learning, having fun, flying and hopefully winning. This year the comp rounds will be on the weekend prior to each club meeting, so that's the Weekend before the last wednesday of each month.
  6. We need to have all entries prior to the meeting on 31st August 2011 so that we can get our pilot list and pick the teams. So if we want the team event to really work we need all entries.
GPS Procedures As you will read in the manual, you will be downloading your own tracklog from your gps and uploading it here to the website to be scored. If you are unfamiliar with how to download your tracklog from your gps, then it is advised that you download (for free) gps dump. You should practice using it and your computer to download tracklogs before the first round of the competition. If you have trouble doing this, then come along to the any club meeting where we'll help you to figure it out. If you will be using a laptop computer to download your tracklogs, then bring it and your gps and cable to connect them along to the meeting so we can guide you thorugh the process.

This year, we'll be using FS as the official scoring software. GPS dump can save your file as either .kml or .igc. you will need to download it as .kml for the competition. If you use other software to download your tracklog, and it only saves as .igc, GPS Dump can convert a valid .igc file to gpsDump .kml. I can help with this if needed.

    Waypoints
Once you have signed up to the comp, you'll be able to download the waypoints from the waypoints page. Note that the waypoint file was last updated 01/Aug/2011, so if you have an earlier version, please get the update.
