In Airforce fast jet circles after a pilot punches out of an ailing aircraft, he is sent a pin and certificate from Martin Baker, the designers of his ejection seat. At this week's meeting was an awesome safety wake up call that could, I reckon, be a good setup for an annual safety, or near miss, or "bent aluminium" trophy? We embrace a just culture for safety in maintenance and flying operations where I work, with the underlying principal being open reporting and ownership of responsibility for one's actions. Wednesday night was a very good example of just this, and something we could promote perhaps?
There was one.
There used to be a "Bent Aluminium" award. Not sure if that's what it was called. JOD could confirm. All we need is someone to make the trophy. I have lot's of bent uprights and there have been a few worthy recipients this year, myself included.

Bent Al award
yeah Don I agree. We use to have a bent aluminium award of which I was proud recipient one year. John heymans (aka horse) was the manufacturer but he has left Airborne and left town

We got sick of giving them to
We got sick of giving them to Dr Death (aka Al Giles).
I haven't seen one of these awards for 14 years, but memory could be off there.
Horse made a damn fine job of them too.
Billo
last award
Yeah good guess Billo. I wrote off my Blitz (best glider ever) 14 years ago. Horse did a great job using materials only from what was left of glider. Note parachute was also made out of glider dacron not chute material as when I went back to retreive chute a few days later someone had beat me to it!

It still takes pride of place in the pool room
