Hmmm, anyone going to post some photos and brag about their great flying at Tumit or Manilla for the benifit of those of us that were left behind to hold the fort in Newcastle?
Well, I can't really do any bragging, the flying was good down at Tumut, but I guess I wasn't as good as it was.
I got up to base on Friday at Argalong, then crossed the gap to the north with Peter Burkitt, where we found some lift that he managed to work back up to base to join up with Bushy before they went off to land further along the range an hour or so later, but I only managed to work the lift for a bit before landing out nowhere near where anyone else was flying, so without an easy retrieve. In the end, I flew just over 5km, and walked just over 10km before finally getting a lift so I could retrieve my gear. Still, a great day.
I had shorter, scratchier flights on the other days, two more days at Argalong, and a day towing from the Airport. I didn't make it up to Talbingo this year, but those who did, apparently had great flights enjoying the spectacular scenery up there.
I took a demo Sting 3 168 down which I got to tow at the airport, damn it tows nicely. A couple of the guys from the Blue Mountains club flew it as well, and both made mumblings about the sacrifices their wives will need to be making so that they can get one. I believe one wife is going to give up her new kitchen, and the other her new car just so that their pilot husbands can get a new Sting 3, such considerate people they are :)
As to video, all I have is my flight on the last day, and a couple of shots up on the hill.
Peter burkitt launching on the NE face of Argalong.
We also got time to put the kayak in the Tumut river a couple of times. I learned that it's difficult to paddle a Tandem Kayak up the rapids with the whole family aboard, but not impossible.
