Newcastle South Leagues Club, Merewether.
Hi Guys,
Hopefully many of you have had great flights so over the summer, either at one of the comps, or just in our own backyard. Hopefully there'll still be more good flying to be had thorught the rest of the season.
Now is a good time to think about claiming an FAI badge or two. Pretty much anyone who made goal at corryong (or any other comp) will have at least earned a bronze badge, and probably one or two of the requirements for Silver or Gold. Did anyone get a Diamond?
Remember that you don't need to get all of the Silver or all of the Gold tasks completed in the same flight, so 6000' today, and 3 hours flight next month, then you've just got to go 50km and you've got silver.
Anyone who's kept half an eye on the current dealings of the HGFA will know that there has been some discussion as to whether the HGFA should continue to pay affiliation fees. If they should decide to no longer affiliate with FAI, then these badges may no longer be available to Australian Hang Glider and Paraglider pilots. So don't wait, get your claim in NOW whilst you still can. If you've almost got a badge, but just need to get one more task ticked off, then get flying, maybe sign up to the State Titles, seems like a good place to get some big air.
If anyone needs help with the process, let me know and I'll try to steer you in the right direction.
Dawson
