my wanderings

I am getting the hang of the new dumbed down website now. I have been a bit busy steering gliders to do much of the computer stuff. I have not taken a photo in a long time either. Now is the time to begin blogging my consistent adventures.

I flew on Saturday in Denman, Billo and Jules had a trike to pick up, so we had a tow. Conrad, Oogleboogle and I flew gliders. 3 tows was all it took for us all. Thermals were low and slow, a SW was blowing gently over the mountains, we flew leeside for most of it, on the southern ridge. it took 2 hours to lap the valley. nice cumulus nice eagles, good to team fly with conrad. Chris assured us that Pete would be upset that he missed the activity. Chris, Georgia, Ty, Sasha, Elle, Molly, Spencer, and their new chocolate brown labrador pup enjoyed the day. Thanks for having us.

Billo and Jules flew the trike to Walkworth and we trailered home.
We were back in time for dinner.

Sunday was good for duning at caves beach. nice little dune flight, walking along fences, I crossed into neghboring beaches. The launch and landing is a little interesting. stand on a pole, get ballanced, hover up to the fence just in front, stand on the fence, take off. Great fun.

Monday was great fun at Strezi. Light winds, very light, I bombed going first early in the day. Thanks harry for a ride back up. Another go, and I joined Stewie (c4), Shane (c4), JOD (Sting2xc), Donny (fun190) and me in a Sting, all circling up in the one thermal. Shane, JOD and I glided off to Mereweather, Shane made it thermaled up and glided back to strezi. It was not strong enough ridge lift to maintain at mereweather and I Joined JOD at the bottom, we had a nice scenic walk back for the cars, all of the pretty girls were smiling at JOD on the way back.

Wednesday, Darren invites me for a fly at the Wattagans. Tony is there for a tandem. I am there last, everyone is already set up but I become the wind dummy, the wind is light westerly and thermic, cu pop at 4.5K ft. I climb out in ridge lift, some light thermals in there too and wait till I get a good thermal come through. Tony, passenger and I climb out in a slow one (but better than average), it is a lot of bumpy circles for a passenger, they did very well before givving up for some more straight and level flight. I went over the back, it is a patient ride, with gentle convergence areas in the gap (NW wind), also over argenton (NW wind), there was SWwind over the lake and at home. I called my dogs (in my backyard) from above, they came out to look at me. I landed in the playing fields and walked sround the corner home. I retrieved my glider with pushbike and golf cart, it is always funny to watch peoples reactions, most have not seen a hang glider trailer before. Next trick, get the car back!
