Many top pilots even if they did not get into goal still did PBs yesterday. The task committee wanted to set a open task but the software would not let them so they picked a waypoint that they thought no one would get to, Mitchell, which was 338km. But 12 pilots did make it and a lot of other got close . . .
Climbs were around 600fpm to a base which went from 6000 to over 8000 later in the day. The wind was cross-tail to Chinchilla if you wanted to stay north of the HWY and then it was straight tail of about 40km/hr.
Today the wind was stronger and to spite several briefings the day was canned. Blaino did go for a fly though.
High cloud and strong wind, a by product of the cyclone

Later in the day cloud builds up and wind gusts increase. Onlookers watch Blaino
