It would have been so easy to pack up. The wind was coming over the back. Top pilots had bombed. Intermediate pilots had trouble making the bomb-out but . . . others had shown that cycles were coming up the face and a safe launch was possible. I am glad that I stepped up to the plate to see how it felt. Thanks Ward, Dawson and James. It was OK.

Ricky Evans just sent me this video of a take off and landing at Manilla. On the day we were both in Stings and caught a screamer of a thermal right out in front and flew west for about 60km together. Rick's family followed him and took the video as Rick followed me into the same paddock.
