Clean Up Australia Day

Hi Guys,

I've registered our Clean Up Australia day site for this year at Strezi Launch.

Please register to attend here: http://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/Strezleki+Launch. As a group, we are generally very good at keeping our sites clean from litter. Let's face it, if we didn't we'd probably be blamed for the litter that others left there, so it's definately in our interest to do so.

It's also in our interest to have the locals know that we are involved in keeping our area and the area near by clean and tidy, so come along wearing NHGC branded clothes and help out.

Regards,

Flying tomorrow

Unfortunately I'll probably not get to take part in any of it tomorrow, but Gary P & some guys are planning a dawn assult on merewether and Shannon is planning to get a bunch of guys from Sydney and Slamwell to come up to Budgewoi for some dune gooning tomorrow - be there at one or both if you can.

A little Side Tracked

I think all would have to agree that the coastal flying has been very acceptable of late :-)
Last Tuesday 13/12/11 was no exception. After an enjoyable float at Merewether I decided to do a little advertising over the Hotel at Newcastle Beach. I boated around there for 30mins or so and landed uneventfully at the beach.
Col at work gave me a lift back to retrieve my car and whilst getting my pack up gear Donsta landed next to me and asked "where the hell did you take off to" in his usual friendly manner.

Mc Knob. Would you like strong thermals with that?

Alan, Ward, Cammo, Gary, Nicola, Conrad, Brizo the super driver and I turned up at freeos. After a compulsary 1 hour dither, we got gone...
Pics show Camo and I doing something different and going around the mountain anti clockwise. Here is a picture looking towards Lagoona. More at http://pics.nhgc.asn.au/thumbnails.php?album=216

I landed Qorabolong, Cammo Carmels, Conrad Taralba, Garry home. Others more local.

Blue Mts

This week I flew in the Blue Mountains in my new REV 13.5. Great conditions and views. I rode a sea breeze convergence line over some pretty mountains, the photos turned out great. http://pics.nhgc.asn.au/thumbnails.php?album=215

It was a leisurely trip around the valley taking photos. Thanks to Kathryn for driving, Dave for the flying company.

Hello from over the rainbow

Hey there everybody. Thought I would drop you a quick line to say hello. Not much to report though...been damn hot although it is starting to cool down here. Been damn busy, and I don't reckon that will ease until I get home again! I have travelled a little bit since I have been here - a couple of happy snaps here to share, other than missing beer and all your friendly faces not much else to report.

Summer flying

At the meeting last night, we were reminded that with the weather warming up, we can expect the beaches to be heavily populated with the kind of person who doesn't appreciate being hit in the back of the head with a leading edge.

Dawn Flying tomorrow

I have mentioned to a couple of pilots that I might be in for a dawny tomorrow morning - the forecast is looking ok ( so long as it's not too wet at the time ) but I'm not going to make it in due to work commitments early tomorrow.

I will however try to get in for a flap before the meeting tomorrow night - see you there.

Dawson

lots of flying

Last week I did some glider development work at Merewether. It was great condition for cross tailwind approaches onto the lower slope, and I needed to do a lot of them between adjustments. Then on Saturday I flew at Strezzi. It was light and I flew alone because the paragliders could not stay up. When the wind strength increased, there were a lot of pilots got up, perhaps 7 HG, 3 PG.

Monday and Tuesday followed a pattern.
